J.P. Collection Drive is a massive success!

The Mad Hatter Collects 4 boxes!

The Mad Hatter gives big to the collection drive bringing in over 4 full boxes! We also collected boxes from the Aloha Cafe and South Tech High School in Boynton Beach! 

Walter and I hope that the box will reach J.P. around his birthday on the 23rd!

Help a Real American Hero!
Those of you who listen to the LunchBox already know J.P.’s story, but for those who don’t, J.P. (John Paul) is a Sergeant in the U.S. Army and is currently serving his 3rd tour in Iraq . He is from our area and recently relocated to Georgia with his wife and children. The LunchBox has been following his tour with updates from Walter B’s daughter, Jamie.

Roughly two weeks ago J.P. was on Armed Protection for a convoy when he spotted an IED on the side of the road. Without hesitation he positioned his tank between the explosive and a HMMWV (Hummer). The explosive detonated while his tank blocked the blast and protected the HMMWV he was still trying to pull the hatch down to protect himself when the blast hit. The explosion caused burns to his face and hand and a severe concussion.

He is now recovering and should rejoin his unit at some point in the future.


Walter and I want to show our appreciation for a real hero! We need your help! Although, it a small gesture, we are putting together a care package for J.P. His family sent us a list of the items that he is requesting.

You can drop the items at the following locations starting Wednesday Feb. 28 until Wednesday March 7, 2007:

Pali’s Pizza: 11 N. “H” Street Lake Worth.
South Tech: 1300 SW 30th Ave Boynton Beach (staff collecting but not a Public Drop Point)

Should you want to leave a personal message for J.P. it must be unsealed and the following items are restricted: Pork, Alcohol, and Materials with Adult Content.
